Ru (Austin)

Breed:
This lovely boy was rehomed, but unfortunately, his adopter was allergic to his coat. This is what they had to say about their time with him:

We are heartbroken to share that Ruadhán (Rú) is in need of a new forever home as I was unfortunately allergic to the point where it was unmanageable. Rú has been an integral part of our family, and while it’s incredibly difficult to let him go, we want to find him a loving home where he can continue to thrive.

About Ruadhán:

Personality and Behaviors:
– Affectionate and Cuddly: Rú loves lounging on the couch or bed, enjoying any soft spot he can find. He’s always up for cuddles and enjoys being close to his humans.
– Gentle with People: Rú is very gentle with humans, he’s great with new people and quickly becomes comfortable with them.
– Reactive on Leash: Rú can be reactive on a leash when he sees another dog and can try to slip out of his harness.
– Food Motivated: Extremely motivated by food, Rú loves treats and can be easily trained with them.
– Muzzle Trained: Rú is happy to wear a muzzle when necessary, and he should definitely wear one around small dogs and in the dog park.
– Travel: Rú travels well in a car for the most part, he can be nervous and sometimes get sick or pee on long journeys.
– Energy Levels: Rú has bursts of energy and loves running, walking, hiking, and the dog park. He is also a couch potato who enjoys relaxing.
– Social with Other Dogs: He is happy to live with other dogs and bonds pretty quickly.
– Strong and Playful: Rú is very strong and enjoys playtime, and would need someone who can handle walking him.
– House Trained: Mostly house trained but may still have occasional accidents if he can’t get outside on time.
– Grooming: Is very tolerant of being brushed and of being showered.

Special Considerations:
– Leash Reactivity and Strength: Needs careful handling during walks.
– Small Dog Aggression: Can be aggressive towards small dogs.

Rú is a smart, quick learner who is very alert and notices small animals from a distance. He’s a loving companion who needs a home that can accommodate his strength and energy levels.

Paws Adoption Policy

If you have children under the age of 7 you must adopt a puppy. (This for your children’s safety as we have no idea of the dogs history).

  • Our dogs are rehomed as indoor pets only.
  • Your garden must be fully enclosed by walls or secure fencing,no hedges or shock collars. We carry out  pre-adoption homechecks.
  • We don’t rehome adult sighthounds with cats, we recommend getting a pup.

PAWS is not open to the public as it stresses the dogs.
Appointments are by prior arrangement only.

If there is a dog on the website you are interested in or you would like to know about our other available dogs, please email for a questionnaire : pawsadoptionqueries@gmail.com
