In response to the recent greyhound racing documentary..

As you can imagine, the last few weeks we have been inundated with queries from people about Greyhounds & Lurchers.
Here are some things you could do:

Adopt one:

Hundreds of Greyhounds and lurchers throughout the country are looking for homes and after recent events, there will be many many more. Here is a video from Pete The Vet with some advice: https://www.virginmediatelevision.ie/…/Pete-The-Vet–Retire…

There are some good books available on the care of greyhounds. Do make enquiries here https://www.facebook.com/understandingreyhounds/

If you can’t adopt at the moment:

Take them for a walk: Most animal rescues in Ireland have greyhounds or lurchers (Greyhound X’s) resident at their shelters, we at PAWS have dozens of both. Because of time constraints, rescue workers don’t have time to walk them every day, so you could step in and volunteer at your nearest rescue centre.

Sponsor one:

All the dogs require vet care. Neutering, vaccinations, worming, dentals, microchipping, rabies shot and passport if being rehomed abroad, not to mention food and care while in rescue. You can sponsor a dog with us via PayPal or card here https://www.paws.ie/donate/ or by standing order here https://www.paws.ie/standing-order-form-2017/

Please remember that Greyhounds & Lurchers are just dogs. They are no different to any other dog with regards to feeding or walking and are known for being very gentle and affectionate. It is so sad that most of our dogs are currently rehomed to pet homes in the UK, Italy, Germany, The Netherlands & The CZECH Republic when there should really be more Irish homes available. Come visit. Have a chat with our staff, you never know, you make adopt your very own 20 mile an hour couch potato ❤️
