Our boy, Bru, needs to find his forever home. As well as his good looks, this boy has a heart of gold, as reflected in his lovely golden, colored coat. He has been with PAWS now almost three years and spent most his life in the care of PAWS. He had been homed previously, but through no fault of his own, he was sent back to us unfortunately and we really don’t want to see him returned again so, as always with every dog adopted, we will outline his specific needs and the home we think would suit him best.
Bru spent most of his puppyhood in a kennel with another dog. While the PAWS’ staff do their best to help with socialising young dogs and carry out some training, there is a large amount of dogs to care for each day and individual time to a dog is often hard to carry out. Due to Bru missing out on having a home in his early days and this is where most puppies learn their basic social skills and come into contact with daily goings on in the home, Bru missed out on this so needs someone who understands he needs extra time and attention to help his socialisation. Things like walking on leash and coming into contact with new dogs and people during a walk will be new to Bru and some time and training will be needed to help mould him into the well rounded family pet he has the potential to be.
Bru would benefit most from someone who has experience training a pet dog and someone who has experience with larger breeds or bull breed type dogs would be ideal. Despite bull breeds being generally sweet dogs, like any well treated family dog, they have potential to be stubborn or head strong while undergoing training and this can sometimes be a challenge. Bru would also need someone to help him learn to manage his excitement when greeting new people. For this reason, we think Bru would happily live ideally around teenage children as he may knock over smaller ones.
We know the right home is out there somewhere for this special boy. He has been through so much and yet he keeps getting overlooked by potential adopters. Despite needing some extra time and care, he is a super affectionate dog with so much love to give and would make such a sweet companion for the right person or family.
